From the perspective of an increasingly "hands-off" kinda guy...

This is coming from somebody who just has too much to do, and has less and less time to worry about things that could be done by somebody else. This is also coming from a guy who strongly believes YGWYPF so when it comes to a high-maintenance vehicle, I'm probably a bit looser with the purse strings. I've been burnt by crappy parts and service before and don't care to have to learn this again.

And I'm far from rich. Just ridiculously busy.

I could care less what you charge. I drive a German vehicle and will pay well to upkeep it. The quality of your service is everything and your reputation via word of mouth is, I assume, important to you. I thus assume that if your prices were ridiculous you would eventually go out of business, so I won't even bother to research the competition.

I will pay for peace of mind. Which also means I probably won't go out trying to source parts on my own.

Long way of saying - everybody needs to make money. Don't be ridiculous with your prices, treat your customers well, and karma will take care of the rest. A reasonable surcharge to stay in business is, IMO, reasonable.

I'm also not the type to bring outside drinks into a restaurant.
