Default CEM Engine

So I was watching Discovery Channel the other day and during a segment on the show "Daily Planet" they showcased a guy named Eddie Paul. This guy creates props for Hollywood; for example he did the car used in the movie "XXX", and did some work customizing the cars for "The Fast and the Furious" and its sequel. Daily Planet was allowing him to show off all the nifty props he built as part of their "Built In Your Backyard" segment.

Oh, and in his spare time he also created a revolutionary new type of engine that he calls the CEM engine (stands for "Cylindrical Energy Module"). Now THIS was interesting:

<a href="http://www.epindustries.com/intro_pdx.html">Intro</a>

<a href="http://www.animatedsoftware.com/pumpglos/cem_pump.htm">Page with some info and an animation of it working</a>

<a href="http://www.epindustries.com/cemcompany.html">Page devoted to the CEM</a>

<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cylindrical_Energy_Module">Wikipedia page</a>

Some points of interest:
- only 7 moving parts; incredibly simple design (no cam, crank, etc.)
- self-lubricating
- can use many different fuels
- an engine with 6 cylinders gets the power of a 12 cylinder engine
- each cylinder fires from both ends; the firing of one end expells the exhaust from the other end of the cylinder
- only about 8 major "parts" involved; and these parts are mirrored so that the same part can be used for each side of the engine
- VE = 98% with uncompressed air-flow
- compression ratio of 1.6:1
- 2hp/pound; i.e. power-to-weight ratio is excellent

As well:
- the technology is patented (back in 1993)
- he wants to know if major car companies (he mentioned Ford &amp; GM) are interested in it, has been sitting on the technology for years
- he currently uses these things only for pumps... a very limited number of them actually exist (probably less than a dozen)
- I just found out from Wikipedia that it WILL be used in a car; a Deusenberg coupe
- I emailed the Eddie Paul with an idea to improve his engine... haven't heard back yet.

Default On that similar subject, you should look into the Quasiturbine (Quebec invented)
