You associate sport wagons with a few makers, Audi, Volvo, and Subaru (less sporty, but lots of wagons). This is especially supported by the tendancy of Audi and Volvo to offer their wagons in very sporty versions (S4, RS4 until recently, V70R) and even for Vovo to race wagons in the old IMSA series in the 90's.
I have only bought wagons for the last 8 years and expect to only have them for a long time to come. That is one reason that I cannot seriously look at an American nameplate, trucks only, no wagons. I don't care what they try to tell people, a GMC Acadia or Ford Edge handles more like a truck than my Audi Avant. You can't sit that high up and drive the same.
I have sat in a Q7, although not driven one. I am sure it rides well and is really nice, but it reminds me more of a coffin than something I want to drive. Just too big and bloated.
I know Audi can sell plenty of CUVs, but I hope they don't abandon a solid fan base just to get there. I wouldn't even care if they made the good stuff (manual trans, sport suspension and/or seats, roof rack delete) sold-order options. Some of us know we like our cars a specific way, and wouldn't mind waiting if we can have it our way.
As for me, I would love this new B8 Avant with quattro, DSG, sport suspension, and the 3.0TDI. If I can get the S4 seats with cloth, like on my 2000 A4, and roof rack delete, I would be a pig in poop. Happy to pays my money and waits my 12 weeks. Anyone listening?
