Audi of America: Current News, Notes & Rumors
After spending two days with Audi executives at Sebring we came away with a notebook full of news, notes and rumors. Read more...

https://www.audiworld.com/news/07/march-2007-news-notes-rumors/</a

Marketing is key
Last year Audi spent the least out of all manufacturers on advertising. Here is a practical example: during the 12 Hours of Sebring, Audi (the company that dominates the race) ran some ads. But Lexus (competitor in the market) that has no race cars in the race had more ads on TV.
A new slogan is good, but increased spread of advertising is necessary. Especially in the luxury car market.

Ditto. I am spending big $ creating a 3.0T allroad, for lack of an RS4 avant. I would buy one...
I would buy an RS4 avant in a heartbeat if it were available.
I also own a Porsche 997 C2S that I hope to replace with an R8. While the price of the R8 will greatly affect my purchase decision; it needs to be directly competitive with the 997 C4S, perhaps marginallly higher, and all of the 'goodies' need to be available )LED headlights, etc).
The looming availability of a targa or cabrio is also of very keen interest, but the car must look and perform properly; the 997 looks a little, um, 'girly' in cabrio guise IMO, but I do with I had a cabrio...

Audi will need to further distinguish itself from the other 2 luxury German makes
A V6 TDI variant in their most popular models (A4 & A6) that delivers better HP and Fuel economy than their gas brethren will be a start. Resuming free scheduled maintenance is another step.
AoA Finance should finally get their heads out of their ar**es and work with AoA Marketing start looking to develop lease programs that are more feasable to their public. Talk about pricing themselves out of a market.

2nd on the free maintenance.
I know I pay for it one way or the other, but it definitely influenced our purchase/lease of Audis. I'm not saying that it's a deal killer, but it's a significant factor when others still offer it.
The sooner the V6 TDI gets here, the better. We have plans for a commuter car and a large car in the near future and that option would be very important to us. I could see both an A4 & an A6 as possibilities.

RS4 Avant > Cab. That was my very first thought on reading the article.
In fact, RS4 Avant > Sedan. If only the Avant was brought over, it would have sold just fine. I mean, it's not like 20,000 RS4s will sell in the US.
The second thing I noticed was the eventual A3 2.0T quattro, though I didn't notice what tranny would be used. If it's not 6MT, then its a waste. But good to hear.
I think the single planned diesel 3.0TDi is a great idea. It will fit in most Audis and will make decent HP and great torque for all. 370 ft-lb. Yum.
B8 Avant 3.0TDi, please, 6MT, naturally. Or an allroad with 6MT..... or an A6 Avant with the TDi and 6MT. Any would do.
Will be interesting to see what "bolder" marketing campaign is used.
