Why I'll never use a PC again...
I always came away disappointed in the way the black areas on my Gallardo came out when using the PC. Regardless of the products and pads, it always came out milky with thousands of tiny scratches.
I finally took a crack at using the rotary today and will never turn back again.
Below is a photo of the passenger side mirror. The roof, engine compartment lid and other black areas looked identical.

Left side is PC with Adams polish with white finish pad. Right half of the mirror is a single pass with Menzerna 83 on a light cutting pad. I know many tend to think the PC is safe and provides good results, but for me it only made the car look worse. Just wanted to pass along the experience.

No one has ever said a PC was better than a Rotary, however your test is very poor...

Why not use the same polish and pad with both when doing a side by side comarison? I would totally expect your results shown.

The pc is a great tool however the rotary can do much more. as well I would have to agree hit that
left side with PO83 with the PC and then take a pic that would be a better test.
Which rotary did you end up getting?

The guys are starting the transition down...
Tony flew in last weekend to start getting things going here and gave me a lesson on a Z4. We should be up and running by the first of Nov.
I know the test is not "evenly matched" but shows clearly what I was talking to you about over the phone before. On the areas that were too tight to do by machine, even with the adam's products applied by hand did not cause the scratching I have been seeing with the PC.
It's a little too late to retest with the PC and #83. Just applied the last coat Concours for today.

You REALLY can't compare menzerna to adam's polish.
It's in a whole different league.
That being said, the rotary does give better results than a PC, however a PC can achieve very similar results with a few extra passes and proper technique. For a beginner I'd def recommend a PC, simply because it is very easy to cause paint damage with a rotary if you're not experienced.
Here are a few good links comparing rotary vs PC

With newer DA offerings such as the Flex, Festool and UDM, the gap between the quality of finish acheived by a rotary and random orbital buffer is narrowing.

your pad must be filthy or you did not break down polish enough, anyhow about rotary...
you are completely right, im saving PC for really tight/plastic areas that im pretty sure will burn the paint. Keep the rotary moving, non agressive speeds, 12-4oclock quadrant for small areas, spread enough product, break it down completely and hey presto, what scratch?
