I figured out something today...Griot's wheel cleaner is nothing more than Simple Green
I had no more wheel cleaner and decided to try simple green...I opened the old empty griots comtainer and decided they smelled exactally the same...and when I put the simple green in the grits container it looked my griot's wheel cleaner container when new and full! It clean exactally the same too.

Psssst, Kip, I'll let you in on my little secret ..........................
I hardly ever use wheel cleaner. Car wash soap and water and the brake dust, grime, etc. washes right off.

Yeah, ive been using simple green to clean my wheels and engine bay...
since ive ever started cleaning cars ;-)
The stuff works great, and its biodegradable so it won't kill the grass or stain the concrete...

Yea, me too.
The only thing regular soap & water doesn't clean up is the pitting done by the brake dust.
In the extreme corners of the wheel spokes, I find that brake dust eventually eats away at the outer enamel and creates tiny pits. Oops I take that back, the pits could possibly be done by dust & dirt particles in the air. Maybe they just get sandblasted into the corners of the wheel spokes with ordinary wheel spin. But it's this pitted surface that gets dirty and sometimes is very hard to clean.
I could be totally wrong about the science behind this, but that's my observation.

I've been hanging around here long enough
that we used to warn people against using SG undiluted because it was too damn strong and damaged some surfaces. In fact, for a while SG sold a pre-diluted version of itself but I'm sure it was too hard to justify to retailers.
If that's not been your experience, g'bless.
