Finished my Fiberglass sub enclosure for B7, nice to have my trunk space back. 56K BEWARE
Let me start with a little project history.
When I started the audio upgrade, I knew all along I would do this, but needed a sub temporarily. So I used a Polk MM2104DVC to my Kenwood amp in a regular pre-fab Q-logic box.
Sounded ok, but along with the amp rack I had laying on the floor, I had lost my trunk space until I could figure out how to mount the amp rack to the rear deck or build a false floor.
Well, when I started my fiberglass enclosure, I knew I had to hide the wires and wanted a false front over the amps.
This was the result.
I still have some clean-up to complete this weekend, but the result is a perfect fit with 99% trunk space retained.
Here is the build.
Removed the rear seat backs in order to remove the two trunk side panels.
Used the passenger side panel and taped the HECK out of it.
<img src="http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s69/rudomat/taping.jpg">
Mixed a small batch of resin and started away using 3/4 oz chop matte.
This is 2 layers done.
<img src="http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s69/rudomat/2layers.jpg">
I did the first 3 layers all at once before letting it cure for 24 hours and popping it out of the cubby space.
<img src="http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s69/rudomat/3layers.jpg">
I used wooden dowels and hot glue to mount the ring and then stretched and wrapped fabric around the front.
Soaked the fabric with resin and here is the result after curing for 24 hours.
<img src="http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s69/rudomat/wetponte.jpg">
Added 7 layers of fiberglass to the top and let it cure for 24 hours.

Carpeted the sub
<img src="http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s69/rudomat/topcarpeted.jpg">
Mounted my front component amp on the left trunk panel.
<img src="http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s69/rudomat/lefttrunkside.jpg">
Drilled and siliconed the subwoofer wiring into the box.
Mounted the sub into the fiberglass enclosure using T-Nuts.

More pics to follow.
I have been lurking the

I am pleased to say the least. Have to fix the carpeting a tiny bit and hide the wires better, but I have my TRUNK back for my golf clubs!

Re: Your enclosure turned out nice but why go through all that then leave exposed wires in the trunk
Ehh, it was getting late and needed to come inside to to walk the dog and have dinner.
Fixing the wires comes this weekend when I also plan on getting some sound deadening done on the drivers side door.
