Default Yes, I've done it... UPDATED

You will also need to wire in a filter of some sort, or you will get alternator whine thru the iPod.

You could buy the Apple adapter thing, take it apart, and wire it directly, yes, but you need the filter.

I make my own, and buy a clear-jacketed white-plug FireWire cable for $5, and the parts, even from Rat-Shack to make the filter are about 1/2 the cost, vs. $20 for the Apple part.

A simple diode, coil, capacitor will work.

Rat-Shack has these parts.
D1= 1N4001 diode, 50volt min.
L1= 1 Amp coil/choke. Actually, there is one in a assortment of coil parts.
C1= 250-470uf/16V capacitor (Watch the polarity.)

Radio-shack P/N = 273-1601

Or this.
Snap-Together Toroid Choke Core $7.99 Cat.#: 273-104

Default Sorry, that doesn't work. you can't just cut and use the cord.

the filter is in the cig. plug, and you need it believe me, I tried this.

You could buy that thing, take it apart, and wire it directly, yes, but you need the filter.
