I have a 2008 A3, with Audi Symphony stereo (see picture below). I'm a new owner, it's a CPO, and I'm incredibly baffled on the design of the steering wheel scroll wheel:

Scrolling up or down on the wheel picks a station at random on the radio dial. By default, it does not scroll through my radio presets and it does not scroll the tuner to the next frequency (say, from 101.1 to 101.3). The instruction manual is extra vague by saying only that the scrolling wheel can "change the radio station."

I tried out a 2007 A3 (had a different Audi stereo with smaller display) and the scroll wheel hits each preset in order. Seems intuitive, and like every other scroll wheel ever designed.

Do I have some sort of wiring issue or is this really how Audi designed the scroll wheel? And why would the 2008 have something different than the 2007?

My Q5 does not scroll the presets - but my RS4 does

Does your Q5 scroll the tuner instead? For example, from 100.1 to 100.3 to 100.5, etc. Or does it pick a station at random as you scroll up and down?

Yes it scrolls the band (AM,FM,Sirius) that the radio happens to be in (even if I am in the presets - the scrolling will occur in the selected preset band)

Noticed this on my 08 A4. When you scroll up or down it seeks the next station, not the presets. When you push it it seeks as well. Seems that is redundant to me. How I wish it would scroll through the presets.
