I just bought a 2000 S4 and would like to add a connector for my ipod. I have a CDC that I could care less about. It seems that last month there were a ton of icelinks for Audi on ebay but they're now gone. Will VW ones work? Also, they look like they only work with up to 4th gen ipods, not video ipods. I'm handy with a soldering iron so if necessary I can make an adapter. What's my best bet for a cheap solution that's more than just an aux-in, ie, I'd like the headunit to control some functionality? Thanks

They do appear to be gone on eBay now but they might come back. They have appeared on eBay (for $.01 + 14.99 shipping) in two waves. Keep an eye out -- or better yet, set up a saved search that will automatically remind you if they come back -- they may reappear.

The VW kit comes with two harnesses - quadlock for newer HUs and another for the older HUs.

This other harness basically replaces the middle portion of the 20-pin plug on the back of your HU. You can either re-pin your car's harness or splice the cables (but make sure you then disconnect the CDC at the CDC end).

Alternatively, TeddyBG seems to be the magic cable guy here and he might be able to make up an adaptor cable to suit.

Can someone point me to the wiring diagram to re-pin a VW Icelink... or if anyone has an extra kit I'm interested.

Should qualify this a bit - haven't tried VW kit yet, but will test in one week's time.
