R8 and S5 on the floor at Jack Daniels in Ramsey (and a controversial opinion)
They have a sold silver R8 and an unsold white S5 on the showroom floor. The R8 has matching silver sideblades. I wasn't impressed by the look at all - the silver looked kinda dull and the matching side blade made the car look unbalanced. The S5 just plain looked awesome. In my opinion the S5 is a better looking car than the R8 and sitting side-by-side the S5 "stole the thunder" from the R8.
The S5 interior is incredible, what a job they did - the RS5 is going to be a killer car
Anyone considering getting an R8 with paint matching sideblade oughta reconsider, IMHO.

I thought the same too when I saw the R8 for the first time. I seriously think it's the silver color
The first R8 I saw was a silver one with silver sideblades. I wasn't that impressed either, and almost cancelled my deposit. I'm starting to think that silver is such an overplayed color that it lowers the look of an exotic car like this. Looks much better in other colors.

I agree with your comment. Dealer in Sarasota FL has the S5, (which I drove0 and the R8
but in a dark gray with black sideblades. Both cars looked awesome! Owner of dealership purchased R8. They were driving back from service bay to put back in showroom. Sounded sweet too.
The S5 was wonderful.
This convinced me to purchase the 09 B8 A4 with the 3.0 TDI, (240 hp with 406 ft pds of torque). All while getting 40 mpg!
Of course, it may take as long to get as an R8 too!

I'd have to agree about the silver, first R8 I saw was in silver and it looked
sooo boring (same with the silver A5/S5 I saw). But the next R8 I saw was white with a silver sideblade, and wow, did it look stunning. Silver has become such a boring generic color choice imo. Way too many silver cars out there these days.
