Are the R8 exhaust tips actually attached to the exhaust system?

Are the R8 exhaust tips actually attached to the exhaust system?
Someone is claiming that, like the Lexus IS-F, the R8 and CGT tips are not.
This question arose from a review of the IS-F:
But no one of sound mind could love the stacked quad exhaust tips. This is at least partly because they are not actually exhaust tips. In fact, they are not connected to the exhaust system in any way. They are simply jewelry for the rear fascia. It's an uncharacteristically cheesy execution by Lexus.

Note that the tips in the photos are actually attached to the bumper with grillwork. On most cars with real tips, they're not attached.

Methinks they are real....

or at least close. The pipe is at least inserted into the tip, it doesn't stop short. And I think I remember seeing a video of the engine revving and seeing the tips wiggle. That wouldn't happen if they were just mounted to the bumper.

It looks like there are brackets to attach to the bumper, though... it's hard to tell exactly what's going on there.
I was hoping that someone would have access to a car to actually see. It may just be the photos, but the IS-F looks really cheesy. I imagine that, with the Audi, even if they aren't quite attached, it's hard to tell.

Well, that doesn't mean that they're attached. An Audi sales guy seems to think
that the pipes aren't actually attached to the tips but do insert into them. The reasoning, I imagine, is that the exhaust system moves a little bit. I know that, on some cars with attached tips, the tips aren't actually attached to the bumper so any movement there isn't a problem.
He just had an R8 in, but I guess it's already been delivered so he couldn't check to be sure.

May be the same as the Gallardo...
Where the "tips" are surrounds in the bumper and the pipe extends into them but is not connected. If you look back into one of the big G-car tips, you will see the smaller pipe end floating there. In comparison, the Superleggera version has actual pipes sticking out the back (that don't look as good IMO).
I think it is a good idea, makes sure your tips are always perfectly aligned.
