Audi R8 Discussion forum for the Audi R8 and its variants

Never knew there was an R8 forum. How does the R8 compare to the GT2? Or is that apples and oranges?

Default Re: 7:58

if that's the number than it will take the V10 to match the 997tt - 7:58 is about 10 - 15 secs off of the 997tt's pace on the 'ring

Default actually that was for a non-MR equipped car.

and not sure what tires it was running. from what test drivers have supposedly said, the R8 put down a faster ring time than the TT. other websites have had very long detailed discussions about this and the outcome has been that the R8 has put down 7.50 and lower numbers with corsa tires.

Default I don't think there's an official Ring time for the GT2 yet there's claims that Rohl ran low 7:30's

No idea if that's production spec or tires used.

Default The 911's are wonderful daily drivers its just that

the R8 is a better daily driver. I have owned both 996t and 997T's as daily drivers so I know the cars well. They are world class. Its just the bar has been raised by non other than Audi in the catagory of world class sportscar and world class sports car as a daily drivers.

The issue is the R8 has a better laid out interior, more modern technologies (Nav, bang and olfsen, blue tooth, etc) feels more at home on any surface. I am not saying the Turbo is a bad car, its just met its match with the R8. Hence, the rumor floating around that Porsche is going to the drawing board for a completely from scratch new 911. They know the time has arrived.

Wait just a bit longer and I believe you will find my hands on experiences to make more sense. I know its crazy to think that Audi has truly done it!
