Is it just me or are dealers living in a dream world.
'm only trying to be fair and provide you with a premium buying experience. I hope we get a chance to sell you an R8. I have no idea why we haven't sold you a car in the past, but I will do all that I can to sell you a car now. Here are the two R8's that I have. I'm not here to play games, and will give you our "best" offer right off the bat.

This our new vehicle that looks absolutely amazing. The carbon blade really stands out against the Phantom black. I'm not going to try to charge you above sticker or mess around. We will sell it to you for MSRP.
Both cars are availabe as of tonight. Give us a chance to show you what we have to offer. Have a great night.
Dealers are always telling me that Edmunds prices are too low (when I'm buying) and too high (on my trade in value).
Why do they still think they can have it both ways?

My response
Ok, let's look at this from my perspective for a second.
2007 S8 with 13K miles Edmunds trade in price is 58,324 - I promise you mine is superior to any at that price. No kidding. (you offered 60K - a difference of 1676 in my favor)
2008 R8 with 750 miles - Edmunds dealer price for a CPO R8 is 97, 238 - You are willing to sell it at 116,479 (a difference of 19, 241 in your favor)
On your new 2009 you are kind enough to tell me you are not going to try to charge me above sticker or mess around. And will sell it to me for MSRP. If you tried to charge more than MSRP, I would wonder what world you are living in.
I guess I'll keep looking. Maybe now you can see why I don't bother traveling hours to go look at cars.

The residuals on the R8 don't differ much from Audi's other models. Makes me wonder.
Last year at this time I couldn't find a dealer willing to sell a 2007 RS4 for less than 65K. Now look what the 2008 RS4's are selling for used.
Will the same thing happen to the R8?

That internet site quotes a trade in value on a 2008 R8 at 85,000. Wanna bet the dealers
will say that isn't accurate and that they are only bringing xyz at auction.
My point is if KBB or Edmunds are too high or low, it would most likely be consistent.
I have no problem with them making money on the transaction.

I don't like the comment that he wouldn't try to sell it for more than MSRP.
And that I should somehow be happy with that deal. Even though they will make 7K+ on my trade in with no hassles.
