I asked dealer for breakdown and that’s what I received. I asked them again to breakdown the parts and costs and am waiting to hear back.
Considering that ceramic brakes cost $8,500, the price you have to pay to replace the brake pads and steel discs is insane.

So... if you've already ordered the steal brakes with the 23-inch wheel upgrade, would it be possible to convert to the ceramic option at that first required pads and rotors replacement? This would make the most economical sense if you're planning to keep the RS Q8 for a decade. I get that the speed metrics may not be able to be raised for the 140 mph limit, as they do for the ceramic option, but I will not be doing any track racing.

They're usually much more expensive to buy after, it makes sense to spec them from factory

I think that such a replacement will be much more expensive than the factory-installed ones. IMO CA 20,000 USD including labor costs. This will need to replace the discs, pads and calipers. Makes sense only if you drive dynamically and you want to keep the car longer.

as soon 3rd parties start coming out with rotors and pads for RSQ8, the overall cost will be less.

First service was at 7 months 9300 miles (averaging 16k a yr). Have ceramics and pads were 8.5 mm all around. Are they 10mm new? At this rate I wouldn’t need to replace pads for another 30k miles. Personally I’ll always choose ceramics if given the option. It’s expensive initially but long term probably better off.

if average person finances car over 5 years. That initial addition adds about 160 bucks to your payment. Ceramics should last 3 years min unless you track a half dozen times a year. That 9k is spread over the life of loan. Where as op is now having to come out his pocket 7k in about a year? How long have you had car?

Obviously things could be drastically different if rotors are needed, but I believe depending on driving style these rotors will last a long time.

In my past experiences with ceramics is that the pads last about 30-40% longer than regular pads, while the rotors last anywhere from 150-200% longer than the steel rotors. The rotors is what makes the CCBs the more economical choice in the long run since pads are only a few hundred for both CCBs and regulars.

so, my stealer marked everything up, a lot. Shocker.

I did my own part lookup- and 4 pads and rotors should come in under $4200 TOTAL.

Let’s call the steel brakes an every 20k miles at $5500 all in all 4.

I’m considering this most economic upgrade to aftermarket CCBs (MTM confirmed this kit will work with RSQ8 too and gets us the Front 420mm (and Rear 370mm) is with steel are so jealous of. (Don’t worry CCB boys, you still have a higher top speed until we GoAPR. $12,999.00

In the price of one ceramic set (including labor) you will 3 sets of steel . And CCB boys will still have higher top speed and 440mm
Are you going to keep your car so long that this swap makes sense?
