Q8 Bumper Repair

Q8 Bumper Repair
So I was involved in a very minor, low speed fender bender. We were in bumper to bumper traffic and the person behind me was on their phone and rear ended me probably going about 2 mph. The only visible damage is pictured below. We both agreed not to file a claim and settle it on our own, but I'm wondering is it better off going to an indy shop to have these repairs done? It looks the rear bumper has number of different pieces, so I don't think the entire thing needs to be replaced, just 3 or 4 parts.

If that is repaired properly it will be well over $1000 as the bumper would have to be removed to repair /repaint ...................sanding down the contact points and wrapping it might be a more cost effective fix BUT , honestly , he hit you so get it fixed right ,

If he agreed to pay then have it done at the best shop available .It will still likely cost him less than several years of increased premiums If it's not an insurance claim It wont get picked up by car fax ( I think )

It looks like you have three pieces of trim on the lower bumper damaged. Yes it can be sanded and repainted. The question will be your expectation of the outcome. While small, the pieces are gouged, meaning they will need a bit more than surface sanding. Possible putty/filler. Two pieces appear unpainted, so I’m not sure how the finish will look after sanding. The top piece will need painting and I would require the entire piece be redone, not just trying to focus on the damage and then blending beyond that. All in, I can foresee over $1k easy for the work.
whether it will be on a CarFax report is debatable. I had over $3k rear bumper and wheel work done on a hit and run reported to the police and my insurance company. Never showed up on CarFax when I sold it over a year later. Agree on pursuing diminished value compensation.

Some moron who apparently can't drive just hit my RS Q8 rear bumper in a parking garage yesterday. I just noticed today (we really need a Sentry Mode like Tesla with all the cameras this thing has).
Most of it looks like it will buff out, but there is a 1.5" X 1/4" strip where the paint chipped off and the black plastic of the bumper is exposed. Will at the very least need some sanding and touch up paint.
