Default iPhone overheating while Wireless Charging

Ive seen reports of this all over but never saw if there was a solution. If I put my phone on the wireless charging pad while using CarPlay it will overheat after a while. This doesn't happen when I use a wireless charger at home, so I think it's something in the Audi. Has anyone found a fix to this?

yes, I notice my iPhone 12 Pro gets quite warm as well. I don’t know if it is only using CarPlay I wonder if it is just the fact of it being on the charging pad. I haven’t driven enough or on long enough trips at a time to assess how hot it gets it definitely gets warm.

I believe apple even warned about using specific wireless charges with their new iPhone 12 as well.

So do you just not use the charging pad? Or do you cover it and just place your iPhone out but use the usb c wire?

I usually connect the cable and put the phone in cup holder.

Same thing happens with my android phone while plugged in while resting on the wireless charging pad.. Funny thing it never gets fully charged.

There are a couple of issues I can think of for this matter. The wireless charging system in the car most likely to have heat traps since we are in the winter season, heat in the interior, heat in the vents under the almost useless space at the wireless charging station. It's even worse if you have a protection case for your phone. Aside from being charged wirelessly, your phone is being used (Apple Carplay) vs it's resting on the wireless charging station at home, this creates more heat. Someone corrects me if I am wrong. =)

The problem with wireless charging affects many cars. As you will look at the BMW X5 / X6 forum, users also complain about slow charging and overheating of phones. This is especially true for the iPhone.
In fact, in-car wireless charging can be used more to maintain the battery level than to charge it.
If you want to charge fast your phone in the car, use the cable.
