Curbed Rim... Help!!!
Hey everyone,
Just curbed the rim of 22” inch rim that comes with the Year 1 package, and I’m pretty distraught since I’ve only had the car a little over a week.
Fortunately, it’s only cosmetic damage and it appears to be limited to the outer ring of the rim. Still it’s pretty bad though. Anyone had their rim repaired for damage like this? Is it even fixable (scratches on outer rim)? If so, how much should I expect to have to pay?
Any calming words would be helpful right now lol

Welcome to the club! I've had many rims scuffed over the years. A wheel repair company can fix you right up. I use the same guy my local Audi dealer uses and it typically costs me around $70 depending on the damage.

Without pics I don’t think anyone can advise how much work is involved. That being said, I curbed my 22” Year 1 wheel and had it fixed by a local pro. Great job. If you are more than a foot or two away, you cannot see it.

Agreed, $80 wheel repair. I’ve cracked a wheel before, so bad the tire wouldn’t stay inflated. I had it welded up like new.
Google “mobile wheel repair” in your area.

I called my local Audi dealership and they do repairs in house and charge a flat fee of $230. Worth trying to shop around some more based on these pics?

Mind, that is a very minor repair.
If you don't use the dealer, make sure you perform due diligence on whomever you decide to hire.

Had my passenger-side rims done at the dealer a couple months ago for <$250, never had to remove them from the car and completed in a half day.. Work was superb. An indie wheel repair shop wanted >double the cost plus leaving the car there 2-3 days. Yours is allot less than my damage. You'll be fine.

I am sure that the Audi service subcontracts such repairs. The repair consists of the so-called CNC machining and painting the rim again with clear varnish. Audi service does not have such CNC lathes, only specialized workshops have them.

Retom, in the USA, many dealers have roaming, mobile repair guys that visit each week for such repairs. Their repair setup is fairly simplistic since it's located in the back of a van. For the most part, these guys are completing decent, cosmetic repairs.

It is certainly as you write. I am just suggesting that Audi services do not do it themselves because for it to be done professionally this must be done on a Computerized Numerical Control lathe. Hence the price difference from $ 70 to $ 250. Audi only adds its own margin on this service.
