Behind Piano Black Panel- to left of MMI
In the process of installing the fixed Escort Max CI 360 and looking for the ideal place to mount the display and control module. I prefer not to integrate the readout display in the cockpit console, as you lose the visual customization settings. There is a lot of dead space on the piano black panel, to the left of the MMI screen and below the HVAC vents. I was thinking that would be the ideal location. I was hoping there would be an opportunity to mount both of these two modules with a custom cut-out frame, similar to the attached photo in the Tesla. Has anyone removed this panel to expose what's all behind?

Posting for others that may have similar ideas of utilizing this dead space for any custom installs.... With the help of the dealer showing me the panel and what it looks like behind, I went ahead with the project and installed the Escort 360 CI. Couldn't be more pleased with the way it turned out. For anyone within a day's drive from Chicago, I can certainly recommend the place for any electronics install. They did/do one hella job!
