is there a way to remove Audi navigation from the virtual cockpit and use Android auto instead?

Nope. They halfassed the android auto and carplay integration, and so unlike the much cheaper VW ID4, the driver display (and HUD if equipped) are completely unavailable for displaying phone-based nav cues.

Perhaps it’s because the driver’s display is smaller than other Audi models with virtual cockpit. I think Q4’s is 10.2” vs. the usual 12.3” VC display on other models. Perhaps the resolution of this small screen is not good enough for Google maps. On the positive side, the 11.6” infotainment screen is bigger than more expensive Audi models which are 10.1” in size.
