Don't know why you are smelling gas but it has nothing to do with that hose barb on the wastegate cap. There never was a hose there on an AAN in an UrS4/S6.

Sorry but I have to laugh.

It has been known in the past that sometimes stupid/unknowing people doing CARB/smog/MOT tests have failed an UrS4 or UrS6 AAN because "There is a hose missing on the wastegate cap". Arguments that there never ever was a hose there on the AAN fell on deaf ears. The solution was to put a hose on there and run it somewhere where the end couldn't be seen and then take it to another shop for retesting. Typically the car then passed the tests.

In your case, I suspect the shop doing the test knew that that hose was complete BS and removed it for you. Trust me, your car left the factory without a hose. You're fine in that regard.

As for fuel smell, there was a recall on one of the fuel lines feeding the fuel filter years ago and the full line feeding the fuel rail has been known to fail at the joint. Look/touch/smell in those areas.

Come to find out I'm not crazy it was there but my smog tech took it off because it was vented to air? And the car never had one. You were right I did not need it so it's outa here. The fuel leak was a hose that runs into the fender had a crack in it ? I think it's a smog vapor thing?

On a side note on the way back from smog yesterday the car started to have a misfire under load it has been doing it for a while.the previous owner has swapped over to the spare Chanel of the pos already so that was out of the question so I pit on this.......
