My coupe pump failed on me here:

That picture was taken as I was about to tear into the tank with the only tools I had on me... the Audi 13/10 wrench, and a rock. Got in there hit the pump with the rock and it sprang to life again. Had to repeat that operation a couple more times that weekend before limping it the 3hrs back to the shop where I swapped the pump out on the way home.
Stock pump had ~200k on 'er.

here's what I did, worked great:

Rode 5 1/2 hrs home with Randy the flatbed driver and my ex-gf stuffed in the middle seat in the cab. fun times.
