What do you guys think of B5 S4's?
I'm looking for a winter beater
How do they campare to the URS4? I'm looking at one with 80K miles on it. How long do these things last? Do the turbo's go bad?

You might also want to ask on the B5 S4 forum. Chipped cars on stock turbos = early turbo death =
remove engine to change turbos.
I am sure you'll find some people who like them.

That's what scares me. I'm just getting up to speed on the UR stuff
I wonder if the 1.8T would be a better choice. I'm just trying to decide if I want to drive my S6 in the winter. Road salt and such is hard on cars around here. Life's too short to drive a boring car till spring...

K03's + CHIP = $8K repair bill at Dealer
I killed first set of K03's on my S4 after only 30k chipped.
I am currently replacing the K03's on my A6 2.7T (exact same engine as S4) and they only lasted 90K on stock + 20K chipped.
Audi really cut corners on the B5, the stock turbo's can die an early death even on stock power for reasons that wouldn't worry a UrS4. And unlike the UrS4 it's a 13hr job to pull out the engine to replace them.
Now if the car already has K04 stage 3 it's a different story... ;-)

I had 2.........they're great but.........
<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/19204/park_4.jpg"></center><p>somehow I don't think winter beater = B5 S4.
They're a total PITA to work on......and like all Audi's expensive when things go wrong. Plus there is not 1 turbo but 2 to worry about going south and the K03's suck.
You'd be way better off w/ a B5 A4 for the winter. You don't want big HP in the snow/ice anyway and there are lots to be found for good prices. The 2.8 may be slow but it's good for many many miles trouble free. Stay away from a 2.7TT for a "beater". Just my 2 cents, good luck.
