It says 91 on it and I strongly suspect that was the date of manufacture. Now for the air cleaner. There is a lot of stuff around that airbox. What is the procedure for changing the air filter?

4 "clips"
Undo them and you should have enough room to manuever the filter in, one is rather hard to get to if you have larger hands. I removed the heat shield the first time but later realized you didn't have to.

Yah, and 2 band-aids. But before that, you have to disconnect the ....
air duct and the wiring plug from the MAF. You do not have too remove the big black cover (with the OOOO rings on it) but I doubt that your's is still there anyway. If I remember correctly there are two clips on the left side (the lower one is where you can cut your hand on the heat shield), one on top and one (but maybe two) on the right side. When you get the top (c/w MAF) off and the filter out, vacuum out all the sand, twigs, bugs and small animals. I would not recommend a K&N and suggest the OEM is fine. I find that it is easier to reinstall if you "load" the new filter into the top cover and then manipulate both the filter and the cover back into the lower air box. Make sure everything lines up squarely and isn't wonky. Then the trick is to get all the snaps done back up. Start with the lower left one, then the lower right, then upper left and then the top. I think that works. Pain killers optional.
