Default ugh, new battery is draining now..

i replaced my old battery because it was dead (now i know why)

I posted a while back and someone said to put a 5V light on the battery by disconnecting the negative and having it run from the negative feed to the negative terminal on the battery.

I have a little light to test electrical plugs but that doesnt come on with that method. i have a voltage tester but im not sure what setting it put it on ect. Any help on this would be greatly appriciated, lets hope my alternator isnt bad :S

Default Autozone will test your battery/alt for free

They can do it on the car so all you have to do is drive up and ask them to test it.

To use your volt meter set it to rear volts DC and put the red lead on the positive battery terminal and the black on the negative terminal. Do this with the key off and all the lights off. I don't know what the normal drain is, but I'm sure if you post the results someone will tell you if it's too high or in the normal range.

Default If it's not the alternator failing to charge, something is draining it... Probably a long shot but

When this same thing happened to me it turned out the relay for the after-run pump had broken and the pump was running 24/7.

Default is this possible..

I havent driven my car for a week maybe more (minus one 15 minute drive 2 days ago to test new Tstat)

is it possible a brand new battery could drain if not driven for 10 days or so? maybe its just a problem of it sittign while ive been working on it?

Default

A good battery will not go flat in 10 days of sitting unless it has a drain on it
