Any word on if this works with the door locks as well? Yesterday I replaced my driver door latch assembly, damn Bentley didn't mention removing the door handle/lock cylinder first! Just to remove the old latch by "downward position in between door shell and door" - well, got the old latch out (over top of the cylinder lock) with some force but everything was fine. It was when I was putting in the new latch, I broke the damn metal piece of the lock cylinder that goes into the latch to turn it! I was SO heated I think 20 cuss words flew out of my mouth as my dad's friend pulled into the driveway and got out of his car LOL He was like "Whoa! You got that baby torn apart!" I said "Yea..Broken apart now!"

Anyway, I would love to be able to just by a new key lock, take out my old one, putting the pins into the new one exactly as they are on the old, and fixing this - as right now I can't use my driver door key lock. Only unlock/lock by remote. If that stops working, looks like I'll be entering every day via the trunk! That oughta look interesting in public LOL I hate the fact Audi doesn't have a key lock on their pass. side doors! Other wise I'd just swap the two of 'em. I had thought about temporarily swapping the trunk lock with the driver door lock - anyone know if this is possible?

This is on a 2001 A6 2.7Q btw. If anyone has detailed instructions on removing a door handle - I'd really appreciate it. Bentley just mentions "Remove interior trim. 2) Remove connecting rod from point 2 in diagram. 3) Remove door handle." WTH? lol Doesn't even mention removing the metal plate on the door handle! *kicks Bentley*

You should post your problem on the proper C5 A6 forum. Your key style is entirely different than most of the C4 keys.

Sorry to wake up and old thread but I just popped my Audi cherry on a '95 S6. I suspected my trunk was replaced but the lock not swapped(my key won't go it). After reading through this, maybe my hypothesis is incorrect. I plan on trying this procedure. If my lock is incorrect, is it possible to get it re-keyed? Can any locksmith do it?
Thanks,
Steve

Yes, locks can be re-keyed. Look at the first post in this thread to get a general idea how. You might have to get the lock "pins" from an Audi dealer.
