Is there anyway to "update all" like in the old AW. All the "NEW" icons are annoying

Is there anyway to "update all" like in the old AW. All the "NEW" icons are annoying
and won't go away unless I click on them, sometimes not even then.

Forum tools-> Mark this forum read.
Half the time it doesn't work though, if you leave the page and come back, it's as if you never marked it as read. And the "new" icons apear to be random...

that's what it will take to get all of the little bugs out of this thing.
the 'new' tag is part of that i imagine, like said before, it appears to be random.
