Splitting two sides of the ECU?
Okay, so I pulled my ECU out of the S6 this afternoon. It's definately got markings of a chipset, as you can see it has the first owners name marked on it... "Mr. Buttoni".. he was the President of Ferrari of North America, and original owner.
I just pried back the tabs on the ECU cover. Hope I did that right, as I'm not sure how else to get in there. Broke one getting it off (doh!).
From there though, I'm looking at the two boards sandwiched together. I'm just not sure what I need to do to open up the two halves. I want to be careful here as this is the ECU, and I don't want to fry or damage it.
I think it's pretty easy to do, but never done it before. Always sent my ECU's out as a complete unit and got 'em back that way.

STFA... release those plastic standoffs and use two small screwdrivers in the pin area.
What are you doing? If the ECU has someone's name on it, then it's probably already chipped.

Don't know if it's an MTM Stage 1 or 1+...
I called Hoppen, who chipped the car, and they keep NO record by VIN of what they do... Seems like a crappy tracking system, but they don't care.
I presume it's a Stage 1, as it doesn't feel as strong as a 1+... won't know till I look at the code on the chips itself and look for a 3.0 map sensor.
He said to either open it up and look, or use a VAGCOM type software and it will tell me. No OBDII plug and no VAGCOM, so I guess this is the easiest way.
I'm also going to buy TDS-1, so I can monitor my boost levels.

Planning to drive to S-Fest East....
And, fly out to and attend S-Fest West!
Sorry, guys, it's a little too far of a drive from the ATL.

I couldn't get it open, but...
I can read the coding on the chips. Not much help I'm affraid.
Boost chip has: LS4- P294 on it.
The Fuel side chip has: EZ94 on it.
I was hoping it would just say MTM type...
I think my friend told me today that they've only been offering the MTM Stage 1+ for the last couple of years. Mine is a much older chip upgrade, so I'm assuming it's a Stage 1 only.
I can probably make out the coding on the Boost sensor if I know what coding I'm looking for. Can someone tell me what the 2.5 bar sensor has written on it vs. the 3.0 bar sensor?
Thanks!
