Shocks: Koni vs. Bilsteins
#2
Most of the Koni's for sale from U.S. tuners(with exceptions of course), ...
...require you to completely disassemble the strut assembly, and compress the piston to change rebound. I do have a front set on my 200 which are from 2Bennett, and are adjustable at the top of the piston while installed. I like them, but since they were designed for an S4/S6, they are a little harsh at full bore, but great for the track. Nice option to have, however, if you do some club events, and want a more forgiving ride around town. I have Bilsteins with the Eibach setup on the S6, and they are perfect for me around town(firm but not harsh with exellent dampening), but I haven't, nor do I plan to track the car(well...maybe). It all depends on what you want the car to be used for, IMO. "Set it and forget it", to quote Ron Popeil, if you just want a daily driver, with the Bilsteins. Go for CO's, or an adjustable sport setup if you need the extra firmness for the track. FWIW, I will likely be selling my 2Bennett setup(rear adjustable height H&R/Koni CO's with adjustable rebound front H&R sports/Koni's), at some point in the near future if that interests you and you are patient, as I'm selling the 200.
