Default RS2 ECU

Got the '95 S6 put back together: rebuilt RS2 injectors, Bosch 044 FP, Iroz RS2 EM, rebuilt RS2 turbo with billet compressor, Apikol FMIC, Apikol coil pack. ECU came with a Bob Pastore chipset optimized for the RS2 setup with FMIC, according the seller I bought it from.

Just not happy with the chip mapping. Doesn't feel like its fueling properly, hits hard at 3600 but not much left above 4500.

I have a spare ECU, talking to 034 about getting their 'rip chip', any input from the forum about this setup?
thanks in advance.

I would talk to Marc at http://www.efiexpress.com/catalog/
He should have something to match the billet rs2 turbo setup.

do you have an opinion on the advantage of VEMS over a hard chip..?

Not really but for your setup chips should be fine. If you are in the New England area Marc can dyno tune a custom set of motronic chips for you. Or as I said I'm sure he has a tune for your setup all ready to go. I would call or email him to discuss your options.

I ran Uncle Bob's Home Brew "RS2" chip set back in 2004 when I went full RS2 on my 93 UrS4. I found it to be too aggressive and caused too much pinging, even on Chevron 94 with Techron. Too much like an ON/off switch too. Very hard to drive on twisty roads because the power would come on too late and too hard. I switched to MRC Stage 3 chips which are less agressive (make less hp) and are much easier to drive with very little if any pinging. Still running them 9 years later.

Other forums aren't liking the 034 "rip" chip.

VEMS is a major investment and one that requires significant user input to tune real time, with the potential for a mistake costing you an engine.

Austin's suggestion regarding talking to Marc S. at EFI Express about your options is a very good one.
