Default OK, what is up with Ford Tauruses?

So, Blake and I were headed over Snoqualmie Pass, with some Taurus wagon trying to race us - we'd leave his *** way behind, then back off, and he'd be bustin' 100 to make up the time, just to find a spot in traffic to hold us up by pacing traffic in the other lane(s).

Today, I'm sitting at a light, and a sh!tbox Taurus roars up behind, and nose-dive brakes as the light turns green, pulls around and hits it as he clears my bumper. I gently spool up, and easy keep pace with him up to 70 (in a 35) and then back off. He gets caught at the next light, and I pull up beside. My lane ends in about 200 ft, so I know what's gonna happen.

He was pissed at having to follow me from then on...

I don't know why I bother...

Wouldn't you be in a bad mood if you had to drive a Taurus? ;-)

Default Good point.

I'd rather have a crappy late-70's Rabbit than a POS Taurus, of ANY flavor.

Default Re: Good point.

I had a guy in a really beat up SHO try to race me a while back. It was too easy to lose him. I was going to comment to him that it 'SHO' was a piece of crap but he was of a darker persuasion than me and he might have taken my ribbing the wrong way. There's just something about the poor guy stuck driving the minivan that makes him want to race too. I usually let them get ahead. I just feel sorry for them and it probably makes them feel a lot better when they are bragging to their friends about how they stomped on whatever I happen to be driving at the time. It happens to me no matter what I drive. The sportier it is, the more I have to deal with all the Dodge Caravan owners.

Default around here, maximas and 1.8T jettas are the biggest offenders

every grocery stock stockboy who has one of these seems to think it's god's gift to drag racing. in the S I usually don't bother, but it's great fun to blow their doors off with my gf's explorer. torque + power braking = stoplight win

Default I recently had a guy want to race me from a light in an old beatup pickup truck.

I wasn't racing, but he seemed to think that because I liked to accelerate quickly up to 60 km/h (just over the limit) from the lights that I was interested in it. I just ignored him. When the light went green he spun his tires and sprayed road gravel all over the place, then nearly came into my lane and hit me farther down the road. Some people are nuts.
