I got the bug to let the world hear my 5cyl. Is it stupid to just remove the rear muffler and just extend pipes past the bumper? Do I have to spend the big bucks on a cat back? Its a shame to keep this engine silent any longer. I ran into a guy with a 91 quattro coupe NA and he gutted rear muffler. The car sounded down right mean. Now I feel I cant wait to open up the urs4's stock system. I've read that a lot of people have done many differant magnaflow setups. Is this the way to go? My car is all stock and I have wanted to keep it this way until now. Any ideas or advise would be great. I'm not sure how long i can wait before I run to the local muffler shop and tell them to start cutting and welding.

here is a video of my 95 s6 with a gutted resonator and muffler. I have had it like this for awhile and if you dont mind the drone on the highway i am happy with mine!!

The PO of my '94 removed the muffler and I think it sounds great. I believe that the resonator is still intact. I will eventually look into a different set up, but for now I am very pleased with it.

... There was an incident involving a presumably drunk driver and my car (as well the cars in front of and behind mine) while it was parked overnight.

Long story short, I won't have it with me for a long while and therefore can't get a video.
