1995 S6 Brakes

Go BigRed...but
Seriously all you may really need is a new brake job on all four corners.
I found that my rear calipers were frozen and not really doing much to help stop the car. After four new rotors and new brake pads the car feels like a different animal. Although I don't track the car or anything. If I was smart enough I would have just replaced the rear calipers with new ones since I probably paid my mechanic practically as much to get them un-frozen.
I do have a set up porsche calipers and A8 rotors that I hope to install at some point this summer. If you do a search you will find loads of info on the different porsche caliper based upgrades.

I don't think big brakes are needed unless you track.
I didn't get any brake fade in my 20 min sessions at MAM. Going to BIR in a little over a month, we'll see how they hold up.
I could use more clamping force however. Even upgraded to basically the maximum extent, my G60's had a hard time dipping into ABS in a straight line with my 255 tires. Can easily do it with 225's though.

Re: I don't think big brakes are needed unless you track.
I just got the car and intent to track it but 99% street as daily driver. Thanks for the info. Any brand name preference?

Disagree.
I consider the stock brakes disappointing. They are certainly adequate for street use, but nothing more than that.
If you plan on driving even a little bit into the "spirited" side of things, I think larger brakes are necessary.
Then again, I'm a big fan of "whoa, there!"

Re: Disagree.
I'm running even with B6 S4's equipped with Carbotech Panthers through the corners. And I didn't get brake fade.
B6's have more pull than me on the straights though.
I will get upgraded brakes eventually, I just don't want to have them as a crutch for inexperienced driving at this point. I feel I am still braking too early and harder than I have to right now.
In just over a month I'll be headed to my 3rd ACNA event of the year.
