Default More Snakes in the Garden...

I had some guys asking about fitment into other cars. Here's a few shots of the manifold and turbo in an urQuattro. These give a good feeling for the scale of things. Yes, the compressor will be polished and the manifold and turbine section will be coated.

Default So...

Is this manifold available for sale, Hap?

Which turbo is that, out of curiosity?

Totally looks like my car. Heh. Nice to see someone else is doing the same.

Cheers,
Patrick

Default Let me try to explain...

Everything is compromise. With individual port flanges and a welded collector and heat cycles, you end up with migration of those individual flanges. Not only are they splayed out at different angles but they're not on an even plane. This makes mounting and dismounting very problematic for a street engine. What we have here is a compromise solution as is the case for most things.

Default Yes it is...

First of all, I have no financial involvement here whatsoever. These guys are friends that have a new venture working with Dave Jones. The cost of these manifolds will be in the $1500-$2000 range. They will be available with 3 1/2" downpipes and v-band clamps for an urQuattro or urS-car. They can stuff a 4" in there if the owner really wanted it.

There are 2 urQs being modded at this shop. The one pictured is the not so nice one because of some rust issues. There is also a pristine silver example. Both cars have full roll cages and custom fitted coil-over suspensions from Dave Stone. They will both run 2.5 liter stroker motors just like mine with the same Innovative F271 turbo. They will also share the same Big Valve Big Cam Heads. The cams will be adjustable +/- 20 degrees of timing. Let me know if you have more questions.

They're also working on a twin turbo BMW Z8.

Default Thanks

Love more info on the C/O's, and possibly contact info for Dave to inquire about it. I'm not sure the H&R/Koni setup I now have will end up being sufficient for the track.

It's certainly nice to have a backup plan in case I run into probs with the EM I currently have.

I appreciate the feedback, Hap.
