low oil pressure
Hey Guys,
the past week or so I have been noticing the low oil pressure light coming on if i drive the car a bit hard 5k-6k RPM range. If you drive it normally and keeping it under 4k RPM's no light what so ever, I checked the oil and the level is fine.
is this possibly a faulty sensor? or is the oil pump on its way out?
any possible test one can do on their own to narrow it down?
Thanks

You can perform an oil pressure test, which requires removing the factory sensor and installing an oil pressure gauge, then driving with said gauge installed. The pressure sender is a 1 pin switch located under the intake manifold. You could check to see that it is leaking, which could cause potential intermittent oil light issues. Also, what oil filter are you running? I have seen certain aftermarket oil filters cause low oil pressure on some engines. All things to look into.
