Looking at a 95 S6 Avant with 64K. What can one expect to pay? question on car
I think I am about to give my 91 Coupe some companionship in the garage. Is $17K a good deal on an Excellant condition S6 Avant 2 owner , perfect in and out car? I think it is a gem owned by an older man who used it sparingly. Looks new inside. The car pulled strong, no modifications (owned by 70 Y/o man for first 40K), Pearl White. What is the best mod for stiffening up the ride some without lowering? I do not want an ultra plank stiffness but just enhanced handling. Is the steering on these cars always so easy feeling? Their did not seem to be too much stiffness in the wheel like my coupe where if you are not paying attention to the road it would not take much to make a sudden move (in otherwords super responsive but perhaps to easy feeling?). Can anything make the steering wheel have more pressure? Less boost? OH ONE MORE THING: 1 of the rear tailights has the orange in the lense (euro spec?), where the other recently replaced is all red. I never noticed any of the USA cars with the orange markers. Is this normal?Where can I get another rear lense with the orage in it to match the original. I assume a new timing belt is due at 64K? $$ He said he would take it off the price of the car!!

Sounds like a deal especially since he'll deduct TB. Remove PS relay from underhood fuse box. Instant improved feel. Tail light, check force 5 automotive bone yard. force5auto.com.

Negotiate your best deal and buy it.
THen subscribe to the s car list..
THe 'community' has experienced all the typical issues and will share how to fix ideas.
However, an S6 in that kind of shape has years of life.
Avant's are rare and sought after..

You'd be crazy not to buy it
Believe me, that is a great price to start with, and if he will work with you on the timing belt (remember to change the water pump at the same time since it is a cheap part and will need replacement some time down the road, might as well do it at the same time).
I stupidly bought mine a few years ago for $23k with only 50k on it, but doesn't sound like it is as pristine as yours.
Believe me, that is a deal and the car will hold its value well. I sold my equally-as-limited-production '91 200TQ avant for more than I bought it for, there is a cult following for sport wagons.
I did the key upgrades, chip, Porsche brakes, Eibach/Billsteins, and it hauls and is fun at the track. Does it all.

I may have a taillight for you...
I need to doublecheck what I have but I did have a rear set with an orange blinker (Actual orange plastic, not red for the blinker part). Factory part, brought it over myself. One of them is cracked slightly, but I think the passenger side one is OK. Let me check tonight and I will get back to you.

As an S6 Avant cultist I will attest to the fact that you are incredibly fortunate to come across such a deal. Buy it. I bought my pearl avant one year ago for just under $19K. And it is worth every penny. I have only modified the suspension so far and love it (springs, shocks - bigger wheels and tires are next)

DO IT! I paid a pretty fair sum above this for a very similar S6 Avant a few months ago. And I have not regretted it one bit.
