Knock Sensor....anyone ever changed?
Was looking through my Bentley Manual and really cant find any good information on "changing" the knock sensor on our cars. Anyone ever done? How long did it take? I can see its position UNDER the intake manifold..seems sort of a PITA to get to...
Thx

Re: Knock Sensor....anyone ever changed?
Gents,
Well it appears that I did have a bad knock sensor as after replacing it I am at a full 22PSI with the new software from ASW/Steve Eiche. This software utilized Feico van der Laan's VMAP sensor set to 3 BAR...
Impressions:
Well 22 PSI is MUCH better then 4-6 PSI with a bad knock sensor. Man the mid range pull is much better then my 2.5 BAR set-up and she really holds the boost longer then before..could be related to the software OR the bad knock sensor retarding boost and timing. Also car seems to idle much smoother and the power curve is nice and linear for a turbo'ed car anyway.
To Do:
Front end suspension is getting totally replaced this afternoon....new Eibach springs and Bilstein Sports shocks which will be replacing my H&R springs and (what I suspect 2x bad Bilstein Sports Shocks).
Stay Tuned.
