Default WG spring = 6 psi max boost (stock); 14 psi max boost (1.9 bar spring).

The stock ECU controls the Waste Gate Frequency valve which in turn controls and overrides/adds to the mechanical boost limits provided by the spring.

Default When the hose to the wastegate was off on my car, the boost gauge was reporting >20PSI.

I promptly put it back on, but is that what is expected with no control from the N75? I assume that is how the boost machine works but with more control?

Is this different than what audidrvr is asking?

That makes 100% no sense. Disconnect the WGFV electrical plug and report back.

Default Disconnect the hose AND the N75 connector...or just the N75 connector?

In my situation it was just the hose that was disconnected.

Default you had something else wrong there. boost would be limited to spring tension.

I am just curious what the pros/cons are.

Default I replaced my bad n75 with a MBC @18 psi 3k-4.5k then tapers to 15 till redline .But if i turn it

up ,the boost goes to 20 psi and bounces a little , wont go higher .
i have removed the hose to the waste gate and it does the same , so i would asume that it was openeing the wastgate.
car is stock .
When it gets cold i do get fuel cut some times so i just turn down the boost .
And i know that this isnt the proper way but this is my DD , all extra money goes to my B5 s4 Mods ...
