Default Hot Corner (brake?)

Hello,
It's happened a couple times now, but I have a rubbing heat issue with the front right wheel. During the problem I can hear the chirp, chirp of something amiss. When I get home light smoke fumes pour off the wheel and smell of hot burning stuff permeates the garage. I pulled the wheel off today to investigate and found the thin "rock shield" was rubbing on the inside of the disk in 2 spots, (front and rear). Disk pads are fresh and the calipers have been rebuilt recently so I'm sure they float nicely. However, before I tear it down further I wanted to share a few pictures and see what the board thinks.

Thanks
Mark

For starters, remove the splash shields and hammer them on an anvil (or the like) to reshape the bits that are touching the rotor. (And then re-install)

Ah ha, splash shield, I wondered what the proper name of it was. I don't know why it was touching the rotor in two places suddenly, but I did bend it out of the way and so far no heat issues. I'm still surprised that that much heat could come from sheet metal rubbing the rotor.

Thanks for the reply and I'll still monitor the situation.
