Default They do NOT have less draw than 'regular lights', I wouldn't do this without relays.
they actually draw more at initial startup, then taper down to a lot less that normal 55W halogen draw.

HID fogs will make the tach drop for a split second too

Default correct about initial draw but 55W is 55W is 55W. ain't no "HID watt" measurement.
BUT, since it seems proven that OEM is pushing the limit at 55W it's still a reasonable case to do the relays.

Oh yeah, your absolutely correct. I'm still used to the majority of the Xenon bulbs running @ 35W

UPDATE - installed harness today, all issues resolved! Autocheck/tach/oem relay are good
