HELP! Miss under load...
Ok guys, here's the issue: under full boost, my car stumbles (miss? ping? who knows?). I'm running a 1993 S4 with an ASW chip. I'm going to change the plugs for starters, as I pulled them all and they looked like they'd been there for awhile. I maintain it. This week I changed the oil (mobil 1 15w50) and installed a new oxygen sensor. The car runs fine otherwise. I thought it was a temperature related miss, because it started happening when it was over 90, but now its in the 60's and its still missing. Any suggestions? I'm thinking either a POS or a coilpack is on its way out. How do I test those for proper operation?
Thanks,
Rich

I have a '95.5 with the same problem, changed all the plugs and even plug boots. Next will be to check coils and then the POS. From what I have heard, it could be either. Heck, it could be a hose leak too.
I think I can switch the cover with someone else and that will verify if it's the coil. If it's not that, then there is some way to use the "extra / 6th" plug in the POS area to see if one is defective.
Sorry, I'm not that mechanically inclined so my explanation is a bit to be desired, but I'm sure someone else will advise you how to do that.

Before you go nuts on the coil packs and power output stages (POS), install those ....
new F5DPOR (accept no substitute) plugs (torqued to 22 lb ft). Could also be less than 94 octane fuel and/or bad knock sensor (Cody?). Mihnea: what do you think?

I'm running 93 octane (thats the best in wisconsin) on a chip that was tuned in Colorado by ASW, and they have 91 octane there. The plugs that are in the car are correct, but I'm going to replace them as a first step.

They're not here yet.
I ordered a "tuneup kit" from Blaufergnugen on friday, which is new plugs and caps (the pieces between the coil and the plug. The caps are out of stock and I wont get them until I'm back from Waterfest. plugs should be here on monday and I'll post what happens.
