Default Dahlback Racing Open Air Intake....

Hey Guys,
Well I couldn't resist and today I received Dahback Racings Open Air Cone Intake. I couldnt believe it...I ordered it less then 2 weeks ago and it was already here today!

The install wasnt too bad and took about 1 hour. I could do in less the next time (30-40 min). The cost I dont even want to mention as w/ the Euro being so high...VAT Tax and shipping came out a bit higher then I expected..but it is still VERY nice.

Those who say..."ya but what about HEAT now?!"...well I would say in stop and go traffic you have a valid arguement..however on the highway or driving around town...I dont think there will be an issue. The stock air intake plumbing stays in place (see pic) and the beefy heat sheild it came with really surrounds the turbo and Exhaust Manifold. Did I mention how BIG the stock Airbox is...holy cow!! (That is my nasty 9 1/2 shoe next to it for a perspective)

Impressions:
-1) Holy Crap..I can now hear the BPV! On every shift..you would have never known our cars are so loud on shifts w/ the stock airbox. In addition you can hear the turbo spool up...more audible. I think the ricers are going to be looking at the "sleeper" now...I just hope I dont get mistaken for one.
-2) Spool up seems a bit faster but really seat of the pants and on the highway however at speed she felt more powerful at mid and upper RPM's
-3) Looks...very nice and plug and play install
-4) Will give me room for a very large turbo in my future where the stock air box does not ;-)

Default Now do this mod.

Try this one out. It looks cool and is a functional "air scoop"

Default So did Hap yell at you yet? ;-)

You should do the RAIS that he's got going or at least make one with fiberglass airbox going around that filter. You're just getting hot air...

Default Yes he yelled at me.....be he'll be OK ;-)

I can tell you on the highway there is NO way that the air I am intaking is any more then a few °'s warmer then ambient. As she is pulling like a rapped ape w/ a "puny" K24 ;-)

However if there was a RAIS unit that I could put the cone inside..sure that would be a "better" solution...especially for stop and go conditions...not to mention at speed. But is the cone better the stock airbox w/o mods...I gotta say...ya
