Default couldn't pass on it.....new addition to the fleet(non Audi)

I bought it for a quick flip but it sure wasn't what i expected. It's a '91 735il with 117k miles. Sat for more then a year in a driveway, started right up with a jump and idled perfect, drove it around the block, took it up to 65mph and it's incredibly tight,no funny lights, everything works has more bells and wistles then i can think of, i'm really impressed....i mean powered backseat, headrests and sun shade, fly by wire(in '91 !!) were new for me.
The straight 6cyl M30 isn't too shabby either, the interior is in mint condition, there are no dents or scratches on the car, could use a wax job but for the total price of $1500 in cash it was a steal.

Default Nice. Best of luck with it. My best friend had a '92 735il

Great car. Some ish didn't work, but he did all the maint himself (I helped with the water pump) but alas, the head fuxored itself at 151k. He just picked up an E39 528i 5-speed as a repalcement

Default Many of those had piston ring problems...

Actually, it was a degredation of the cylinder walls, and not so much the piston rings... The nicosil coating on the cylinder heads went bad with US gas. This may have been mainly on the V8 models, but I heard about this on that vintage 7-series.

But, led to the same problem... loss of compression, loss of oil, and blow-by. Some were replaced under warranty early on... others are still out there with bad motors.

For $1500, I'd still say it's well bought, but these aren't exactly sought-after.

It's not a 730 or a 740i, the M30 engine was solid...
