Default Cig Lighter not working, need fix ASAP

I'm about to embark on a 21 hour roadtrip, and I need the cig lighter for powering my iPod/Phone. Any ideas?

Also, is there a way to wire in a generic 12v cig plug in the back of the wagon somewhere?

Fuse? Connection @ socket? A 12V test light is your friend.

Sure there is, also easier than most cause the battery is halfway there already.

No power to the lighter socket is probably the fuse. 15A, last one on the left in the very back of the under hood fuse/relay panel.

As far as a generic socket in the back of the Avant, how far in the back and what year is your Avant? The 95.5 cars are pre-wired for the socket in the back of the console- I added one to both of my cars so my son has mobile power for his Nintendo DS, or for my wife to charge her phone at the same time I'm charging mine. If you want to add one all the way in the back, you'd have to run power from the battery and provide for a 15A fuse somewhere, but there's plenty of room in the side panels (or even in behind the side panels) if you need it back there.

Default It works, it's just too shallow. Anybody replace their socket?

The socket on this cig lighter is far to shallow to allow most power plugs to sit in it very well. Kind of weird. Anybody have luck replacing it with something deeper?
