highway gas mileage? I may be doing a long road trip and I'm trying to decide to rack or not to rack... Thanks!

I saw a difference when I had one on my B6 avant...
and I have heard friends complain a bit about it on other cars.
Beautiful Supra BTW. I just sold my 300ZXTT, had to time/room for it.

There will be a small change, but as mentioned, only put it on when you need it. They create some wind noise too, but again, if it's for a trip and occasional use then no big deal. I would not leave it on full time regardless of what impact it has on MPGs.

3-4 mpg w/o fairing and less w/ fairing...
have been using thules on various cars for over 25 years and in my experience, a fully loaded rack will eat gas at a pretty good rate. skis have a bunch of drag, mtn bikes worse and the more aerodynamic the car is, the bigger the hit on gas mileage. on my MB 230GE w/ the aerodynamics of a brick, the rack made no difference at all; but w/ the 2007 honda odyssey on a long haul w/ a pod and two bikes the loss was over 4mpg [and that was w/ a fairing!]. although i haven't tested it yet because i have had my urs4 for not even a month, i expect that the drag from my thule ski rack will eat about 3mpg. that being said, it beats scratching up the interior and losing the room to skis in the car...

Take it off...
If nothing else it will be a much quieter trip. I also assert, at freeway speeds, it is worth 2-3 mpg. Never tested, but who cares. The quietness alone is worth the trouble IMO. I've been driving cars with roof racks for 20 years. Anytime I go on a long trip without the bikes, I take the rack off the car. Good time to clean under the feet too.
Have a safe trip.

No sh^t...
I've never had an Audi w/o a ski sack. I may need to transport 2 pairs of fat skis and a pair of mid-fats for a short time.
Anyway, I've decided against the rack.. thanks
