Anyone here done a Sparco/Recaro road seat conversion ?
I've got a chance to get Sparco Chrono road seats for cost.
Wondering if anyone used a universal base or were custom ones necessary. Also what sliders worked ?
Not much info on our cars adaptability w/ these seats.
I also remember someone selling sliders here a few months ago....for Corbeau's IIRC.
TIA.

That may have been one of the reasons...
I was never very comfortable in the stock seat. I'm a larger chunkier sort of build and I have large thigh muscles. My below the waist body never fit within the confines of the stock seat. I was either going to recover and modify the stock seats or get newer aftermarket seats that fit me better. I have always liked the Sparco Milanos and after sitting in one for a time I was sold. So although they do offer the ability to incorporate my 5 point harnesses much more readily, the comfort aspect was the number one reason I switched. BTW my harnesses have a quick release mount and I will be using the conventional seatbelts while street driving.

Here's what I found...
There are numerous universal brackets as well as the brackets from Sparco. You will have to buy the Sparco sliders. Sparco does not make a C4 specific bracket. The way it works is the sliders mount to the bottom of the seat and then the sliders mount to the brackets. I ended up buying Recaro bases/sliders that have a C4 specific fit. I then had the Sparco base welded up and voila, I was in.

Not sure if this helps, but the power base does bolt to the stock seat frame..
No idea whether the mount points will interchange with other seat (Recaros or otherwise). It requires a fair amount of digging to get at where the two are bolted together, but if you can make it work you'd be able to retain the power and memory features.
You should be able to use any 100/A6 power seat for this, so you wouldn't have to trash the stock seats.

I'm worried about the base adding too much height off the floor...
Don't want to lose my headroom.
Well this might be a good excuse to get a 110v TIg welder. I've always wanted one and mebbe I'll fab my own if I hit a wall on my search.

Im working on a corbeau bracket.
A friend of mine has a welding machine so he is assisting me. The chair has sliders under it so we are going to make some little feet for the front to bolt to and then a flat bar for the rear. The rear is the tricky part because the sliders are not the same on both sides, one is angled. The bar is going to follow the contour of the floor and then bend up on each side. We made inserts that go in the slider area and then we are going to weld that to the flat bar. We made a one but after completion thought that the flat bar would be better so we have to do it again. I am also trying to get as low as possible, if that is not a concern for you then get a chair from a junk yard and cut the base off and use that. Or attempt to retain the memory stuff as stated by someone else.

This is whats giving me a woody for this idea.

There's some trick ultra light carpet material my upholstery guy was showing me the other day.Diamond pattern that has a relief on it.
I'm picturing my tan interior converted to a two-tone black/gray. Plus shaving some weight in the process.
New black door panels w/CF trim would be the only thing I'd need for a full conversion.
