Default Anyone heard of a Durabilt-made RS2 clone turbo?

I have a 3B in my 1990 CQ (usually read the 80/90 forum) and the turbo started leaking oil last week. Dropped it off with my mechanic who did the swap (Kevin Saltzman of Randolph Racing, Stoughton, MA) this morning.

The turbo needs a rebuild, so I asked Kevin to find out if it was possible to modify it during the rebuild. He got back to me this afternoon after talking to his guy at Durabilt and told me they make an RS2 clone turbo. Anyone familiar with this? It's supposed to have a larger (than the k24, I guess) exhaust wheel and intake wheel.

Apparently Durabilt doesn't deal with the public, and I've been unable to find much about them. A few threads from the A4 forum about k04 failures back in '99 mention them, but I can't find much else.
My mechanic is pretty confident in them; you guys have any info or BTDT?
TIA,
Aaron

Also
Aaron I forgot but, can you ask kevin which place did your intercooler crossmember setup? I once knew but I forgot. I am in the middle of a 20vT conversion now, in my garage. It's good to know a couple welders. I have an Aby S2 intercooler being shipped to my door, but I am thinking I am going to have the stock cross member modified, and if my welder won't do it, I need to look into other options.

Thanks

Default Ricks Custom Fabrication, E or W (?) Bridgewater, MA

See my pic poster for pics of the crossmember. He made a whole new one instead of modifying the stock CQ piece.

Default I actually saw it in person...

I was up there talking to kevin when your car was in the shop. Looks sharp, I remember seeing the battery box in the back.. I liked the idea of putting it there alot.

Kevin is a nice guy, didn't take me too serious probably because of my age.. and at the time was thinking about dropping in a v8. But eh.. what can you do.

I have a funny feeling after I get it in and running I will be taking it up there to have him just check everything out.

But for the most part the swap has been preity successful.

I just now figured out the rest of aby harness, and for the most part is all plug an play. I just have to change a connector for the lower three gauges and two connectors on the mulitfuction harness.

Was driving me nuts, I can only imagine the 3b harness.. But I also have a spread sheet for connecting the 200 3b harness to the 7a motor, from Pedro.

If you wanted that I could email it to you also.
Might be a good spread sheet for you to hold onto, if you don't have it allready.

Cheers
Josh

Default I've been up all night putting this thing back together after getting new plastic painted...

BTW, no I don't have that spreadsheet. Send it along if you don't mind, I'd like to take a look.

Default is that a special sized battery?

or will the standard battery fit back there?
