Got home yesterday and was able to get about 4 hours of sleep. I'll probably doze off later today.

Before dropping off the car at Nice airport, I had the car washed at the American Car Wash, about 3 minutes south of the airport.

The cost is 10 euros and the result is very good. Two guys first hand spray with pre-wash solution, followed by hand pressure washing.

After the automatic wash, two more guys hand dry remaining wet spots, clean the metal surfaces on the inside of all five doors, and clean the rocker panels.

The car is clean; no bugs on the grill and windshield.

Here are the instructions TT Car Transit sent me for dropping of the car at their new location near Terminal 1 of Nice Airport.

ACCESS TO PARKING
• Go to Nice Cote d'Azur Airport, follow the Terminal 1.
• Continue straight on Terminal 1 following 'All Directions'
• Just before the drop-off (kiss & fly) turn left following 'P2 P3, T2; Nice'
• Turn left into the small roundabout, leave your car in the parking TT CAR TRANSIT code 1236A
ACCESS TO OFFICE
• Getting to our office area (by the door A1) facing the "lounge area welcome visitors" with key, docs of the car and passport.

The instructions were accurate. Thanks goes to my wife who went back outside to take these pictures while I did the dropoff paperwork with TT Car Transit.

Here's the entry to TT Car Transit's parking area (bear to the right, after the left turn into the small roundabout).

The Q5 parked. You can see the Terminal 1 building in the background on the left. A staff member checks the car and makes notes of any scratches or dents. I ended up with a minor scuff mark in the rear bumper which I hope the dealer can polish off when they detail the car.

At the Forum delivery, Audi provided the roof rack, which I didn't expect. On the trip, it was on the floor of the back seat. I put it in the rear compartment for shipment. Hope the rack arrives with the car.

As you walk towards Terminal 1, you can see Door A1.

The dropoff paperwork is done at the TT Car Transit counter (that's me at the counter). The black case just off my left shoulder is the loaner GPS unit.

The whole dropoff process went smoothly. Now comes the long wait for the car to arrive at the dealer.

Correction:
The American Car Wash is about 3 minutes south-west of the airport. Also, depending on whether there's a line of cars waiting to be washed, allocate about 20-30 minutes.

Update on the car shipment:

EH Harms is no longer handling the import of euro delivery Audi's. It took about a week for a response from Audi Germany (my contact was on vacation) to let me know the new importer is International Freight Forwarders, http://www.iffusa.com. Their e-mail is audi@iffusa.com.

After contacting them, I was told my car will be shipped on the vessel "Green Cove", leaving the port of Emden on July 24 and a San Diego ETA of August 22.

Can't stand the wait.

Default It's Finally Here!!!

After 9 long weeks, the car is finally here. Picked it up yesterday, still with the ED plates on!

Here's the chronology of the journey:

7/8 - dropped of at Nice Airport
7/24 - loaded onto the vessel Green Cove and departed Emden, Germany
7/26 - Bremerhaven, Germany
8/7 - Brunswick, GA
8/12-8/13 - Panama Canal
8/22 - unloaded in San Diego
9/7 - picked up at the dealership

Car's in perfect condition - not a scratch on it.

Nice car. Looks like you got it made in the shade.
