Rumor of Audi Extending Warranty for Front Motor Failure Due to Coolant Leak
#31
As I reported a couple of weeks ago, mine is being replaced under this extended warranty. I pick it up on Friday and will photo the paperwork to post as always.
My service advisor mentioned this when I turned the car in as I wanted to be crystal clear as to who was paying. He mentioned that the motor is at 6 years in the computer but they think it will change to 8 in the near future.

My 2019 is currently at Audi waiting for its second front motor replacement and now that we are out of warranty they want to charge us $16K. Does anyone know how to get them to confirm that Audi is extending this to 6 years???

Audi front motor replacement number 2? How many miles do you have on the second motor. I would contact Audi USA? Can we get more details from you? How many miles? What month did your basic warranty expire? You can scrub through my receipt I posted but I did not see any indicator of an extended warranty program. But they did cover it.

Here in California the savings are real, I cannot really speak for all areas, but as long as you get good sun most of the year, you can save good money.
For example, I just compared my electrical costs from this YTD (Jan - April - in our new house which does NOT have solar) with last YTD (Jan-Apr - in our old house which did have solar). I had electric cars charging at home in both houses. Our electric provider is the same (Southern California Edison). House size is slightly larger, but family is still the same size, so usage has not gone up. Rates are the same.
2023 YTD (With Solar) - $468.70,
2024 YTD (Without solar) - $ 1,268.58,
Total savings in 4 months - $799.88

how did they come up with 16k bill for front motor replacement? I think it should be around 5-6k tops...escalate with corporate, these motors should not be failing every 30-40k miles...

Correct, this is #2. We are just over 78k miles so we have been out of warranty for a minute. The first motor went out around 26k so we’ve gotten about 52k on this second motor. The car has depreciated so much that the repair is about half what it is worth and we will be doing this again in 30-50k miles. Thinking of replacing the motor myself. The motor alone is only $2,800.
