I don't think they have that many new batteries laying around just to swap them out....plus the cost of new battery >>>> only replacing bad cells. wonder who is footing the bill for this recall LG or Audi?

Don't forget, they would have to reprogram/downgrade capacity of each replaced battery to match the original ones...

They are still manufacturing batteries with the original capacity for use in the current "Q8 e-tron 50" model (AFAIK not sold in the US). That has the same battery capacity as the "e-tron 55". The original "e-tron 50" batteries are not affected, neither the "Q8 e-tron 55".

I remember reading that LG paid for similar recalls on other car brands.

Audi would only need a fraction of the total affected battery count on hand, about as many as are being refurbished + in transit at one time. They could also offer to replace the batteries with the new higher capacity ones at a discount, which would probably cost them about as much as "fixing" the existing battery etc. I for one would strongly consider paying some money to get a bigger battery as that would make the car viable for things other than just Costco runs.

No joke. I would start to question the benefits of going if the etron range was stretched to make it.

Default 93V2 to 93U9

I have a 19 e-tron that received the battery recall with remote field monitoring (93V2). Unfortunately between the time the recall was initiated and present, my telematics module failed (SOS light inop, app inop). Those modules are backordered indefinitely so I was moved to recall 93U9 with the recommended scans every 4 months.

For anyone getting service under 93U9 - it took 4 days for Germany to review the battery data and approve the car for release. So make sure you take a loaner you are happy with!
